Fair Trade Information

Fair trade was setup in order to combat poverty and encourage sustainability in poorer areas of the world. Fair trade creates opportunities for disadvantaged workers, in predominantly economically disadvantaged countries, such as fair trade farmers of coffee, tea, cocoa and other fair trade items such as the production of fair trade chocolate.

Fairtrade resources allow disadvantaged fair trade farmers and workers access to better working conditions, markets and other important fairtrade information reducing any barriers to fair trade.
Fairtrade was started in the Netherlands in the late 1980 ties by the Max Havelaar Foundation and launched the official Fair Trade logo in 1988 on Mexico coffee.

Fair Trade UK was setup in 1992, the first Fair Trade products to carry the Fair Trade logo in the UK was in 1994. The Fairtrade Foundation certifies all Fairtrade products in the UK For a product to be allowed to carry the fair trade logo it needs to meet international Fairtrade standards. Such standards are presided over, researched, and set by the Fairtrade Foundation known as Fair Trade Labelling Organisations International, often abbreviated to the FLO.

Eco Products Friendly has a number of Fair Trade items, products for sale, keep your eye out for the official Fair Trade logo and show your support for the Fairtrade foundation.
